Wisler Plumbing is committed to continual training of all staff members in several important areas. Technicians, office staff, and sales staff are all trained on an ongoing basis to remain well-informed.
The first area our team is trained in is client communication. This involves understanding how to give relevant information to the client so they are well equipped to make educated decisions about their problem. This is a skill that must be regularly practiced so everyone on our team can explain plumbing issues clearly. We never want a client to realize they made the wrong decision because they didn’t have enough information. If our team is adequately trained in communication, this will prevent buyer’s remorse.
Our team also undergoes weekly technical training that covers several key topics. Just as they must be effective at communication, they must also have extensive knowledge of products in the plumbing industry. Whenever we receive a callback or warrantee claim, we discuss it with our team during weekly training in order to prevent a similar scenario from happening in the future. If there is an area where we have not performed as well as we should have, we use this as a learning opportunity.
During training, we also make sure our team is up-to-date with government-mandated proper code standards. Staff that answer the phones do not have direct plumbing experience, but they are trained in a manner so that they understand basics, such as the difference between a gas water heater and electric water heater. They are trained to understand common plumbing terminology and products that are offered. These topics are all covered, as necessary, during our ongoing weekly training.
There is also continuing education required to hold a plumbing license. A certain number of hours are required every year. The plumbing industry changes very rapidly—new products are released, and the manufacturer explains important details for use and installation. As technology advances, we must also keep current so we will be able to help clients have access to the best tools available.
