Why I'm Thankful for My Dad - Wisler Plumbing & Air

You’ve probably heard the saying that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. That can be taken from a different perspective depending on whether you’re the father or the child. I think one of the reasons why this saying is true is because of the valuable traits that parents instill in their children from an early age. I’d like to take the opportunity to share some of them with you today. It’s really a way for me to say thanks to my dad.

My dad was about working hard and doing the right thing, no matter what the cost. He was great at customer service, even if it meant giving everything that he had to make sure he stood by his clients. He just wanted to have satisfied customers. Those things are engrained in the deepest part of me. Without the example he set, I definitely wouldn’t have the understanding of why those traits are so important.

I also thank him for being so detail oriented. He paid close attention to the details in everything he did. That can be frustrating sometimes, especially if you’re not a detail oriented person yourself. He was about putting great processes into place so that there would be consistency for clients time and time again. I’m very thankful that he highlighted the importance of those details to me. Those are his strengths that I hope to be able to carry on.

I’m also thankful that he was so patient with me. Of course, parents have the ability to be very patient with their children as they mature. I started working in the company when I was fourteen, and I didn’t know half of what I thought I knew. Even into my early twenties, there were times when I mistakenly thought I knew more than I really did.

My dad sacrificed his time, family, body, and mind. Most of all, I’m thankful that he trusted the fruit of all his sacrifices as I carry this organization into the next generation. When I really stop to think about it, there are so many things to be thankful for.
