Independence Day is this Monday.Most Americans love their independence and freedom. It’s the American culture. We see it when people have an opinion or they don’t necessarily want to be told what to do sometimes. The 4th of July or Independence Day is for celebrating the declaration of independence of the USA. I like my freedom. I like my independence. The freedoms that we experience, whether it be freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to live our lives as we choose, in most cases I think it’s something to be proud of. When you travel outside the country, it opens your eyes very quickly that there are other people that have their independence and have their freedom as well, but we’re just such a blessed country.I also believe that freedom is not free.It took priceless sacrifices to create that freedom, whether that be our military or our leaders at the birth of our country. We can’t even begin to fathom what sacrifice has been made for us to have the freedoms that we have. Obviously, it’s easy to think about the fireworks and the cookouts on the 4th of July. We obviously enjoy those type of things, but I think it would do us all good to pause a moment and to really study on what Independence Day is about and what it is commemorating.We wish everyone happy and safe 4th of July.
