The strength of any organization relies upon the quality of its personnel. One of the reasons why we have such a great team at Wisler Plumbing is because we have a very specific hiring process. In order to get hired at Wisler Plumbing, applicants must meet our high standards.
When an individual expresses interest at being hired into our company, we first direct them to a computer-based opinion survey. This survey measures the individual’s attitude and opinion on topics such as work, drugs, theft, safety, and supervisory attitudes. If the opinion survey results meet our standards, we then conduct a personality survey.
We are looking for people that have personality traits that make them a good fit for our company so we can minimize turnover. Our clients are greatly affected by turnover—it can be very frustrating to clients if they are always greeted by new technicians. We are interested in making long-term hires, if possible. Understanding an individual’s values, motivators, and underlying personality traits allows us to determine if a person will have high job satisfaction here at Wisler Plumbing.
After the first interview, we invite applicants back for a second interview that goes into detail about job expectations, client expectations, company standards, and company values. If the applicant were to come on board, there would be no surprises as to what to expect. Then, we conduct an extensive background check, drug test, and reference check. Upon completion of the third and final interview, we may offer the job to the applicant.
We take the application process very seriously, because we do not want to risk diminishing the experience that our clients have. It isn’t always easy, but it is the right thing to do. We want our company to have a family atmosphere that goes all the way to the client’s home.
